The future of European space travel: this is to be ushered in by the new production hall for the upper stage of the Ariane 6 rocket. For this purpose, an existing hall in Claudius-Dornier-Straße in Bremen is being extended. Two companies of the EPC Group were entrusted with the general planning of the major project. HI Bauprojekt, headquartered in Jena, is responsible for the entire construction planning, such as architecture, building construction and civil engineering for work phases 3-8. RMN engineers, based in Hamburg, are responsible for the planning management of the project and the technical building equipment planning. The foundation stone for the extension was laid on February 26, 2018. The completion of construction scheduled for October this year.
The construction is being built on behalf of the ArianeGroup, a joint venture consisting of Europe's largest aviation group Airbus and the French engine manufacturer Safran. The extension of the existing hall will cover an area of approximately 2,750 square metres and a ceiling height of a maximum of 17 metres and will be structurally adjacent to the existing production hall. Starting in October, the upper stage of the Ariane 6 rocket will be manufactured here in time. The main stage is being built in France. The new Ariane 6 rocket is scheduled to launch into space in 2020.
